The Met Office said South London and Surrey could expect snow up to 10cm deep, including in low-lying areas, and warned people to be prepared for travel disruption.
However, with temperatures rising from as low as -4C in some areas overnight on Saturday to up to 2C on Sunday, the snow is not expected to last.

“congrats where due, to the contract workers who have gritted/salted the major arteries in and out of croydon, leaving us seemingly untouched by the snow. Thank god its going to thaw today, won't have the usual bunch of cretins moaning that the world has ground to a halt due to the governments incompetancies in weather prediction and snow clearance!!!”
