​A DARREN Ambrose double handed Palace their first pre-season win with a 2-0 victory over Exeter City at Tiverton Town.

A scrappy first half ended goalless, but Ambrose ensured the Eagles eased past their League One opponents in an improved second 45 minutes.

The first goal came when substitute Sean Scannell was brought down in the box and last year’s top scorer dispatched the spot kick.

The second followed shortly after courtesy of a crisp right footed finish.

Ambrose has now scored four times in the past two outings and will be hoping to build on that run of form as George Burley’s side continue their pre-season campaign at Bromley on Tuesday night.
