CROYDON Amphibians can boast two world records this week after a pair of storming performances from their relay team at the British Gas Masters and Senior Age Groups Championships in Glasgow.

The club's quartet of Alan Parkins, 50, Frances Penwarden, 56, Esther Iseppi, 52 and Paul Hare, 50, set new world bests in the mixed 4x200 metres freestyle and 4x100m medley relays, in the 200+ years age group.

They touched home in 10mins 3.55secs and 5:10.80 respectively to take the titles on the final day of the championships at the Tollcross Leisure Centre.

"We're absolutely delighted," said Penwarden. "This is the first time that the club has got a world record and it makes all of the training worthwhile."

Teammate Alan Parkins added: "It's the icing on the cake."
