Antisocial behaviour mediator to stand trial on assault charges
AN "ANTISOCIAL behaviour community mediator" has appeared in court accused of threatening and assaulting four people at a local primary school.
Diana Marquis appeared at Croydon Magistrates' Court this week but pleaded not guilty to six counts of lashing out at the alleged victims during term-time at West Thornton Primary Academy School.
Marquis, of Songhurst Close, is charged with two counts of common assault, three of using threatening or abusive language as to cause harassment, alarm or distress and one of harassment without violence.
The 51-year-old, who has featured on the website of publication Inside Housing describing her experiences as an anti-social behaviour mediator, spoke in the dock to confirm her name and confirm she understood the charges.

Raheema Jamal, defending Marquis, said there are a number of witnesses, including teachers and parents, who claim to have seen her client displaying the behaviour outlined in the charges, but added: "She accepts presence but denies the allegations."
Marquis is accused of common assault on Debbie Cooplestone and Isobel Hodson, threatening Stephanie Richards, Isobel Hodson and Jo Simmons and harassing Stephanie Richards and Isobel Hodson at the school, in Rosecourt Road, on June 20.
She will reappear at court on October 31 to stand trial. Magistrate William Whitmarsh gave Marquis conditional bail.
