ARMED robbers raided a Purley travel agents this morning.
At around 11.45am the pair burst into Thomas Cook travel agents, Brighton Road, Purley, and one waved around an object covered in fabric which terrified staff believed to be a gun.
Workers handed over traveller's cheques and cash to the pair –who escaped along Brighton Road.
The pair are still on the run this afternoon.
A police spokesman said no firearm was seen by staff but the object covered in cloth was pointed and gave the impression of a gun.
It is not clear how much cash the pair, described as black and in their early 20s, made off with.
Detectives from the Flying Squad are investigating the incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
