West, 28, of Grenville Road, New Addington, has pleaded not guilty to two racially-aggravated public order offences and faces a trial at Croydon Crown Court on Monday.

She was charged after a video, which apparently shows her abusing black, Asian and Polish passengers while holding her four-year-old son, was posted on YouTube.

The recording, called My Tram Experience and filmed on a tram travelling between Croydon and Wimbledon, was watched by more than 11 million people after it was uploaded on November 27 last year.

Since West's arrest her cause has been championed by far-right groups including the British National Party (BNP) and the English Defence League (EDL).

BNP leader Nick Griffin has posted messages of support on social networking site Twitter before her previous court appearances.

The party's candidate for London Mayor Carlos Cortiglia was also present at one of the hearings.

The badges on Ebay are being sold from Worcester under the description 'Not BNP – EDL new badge in support of British Hero Emma West 28 skinhead'. The same user is also selling a book about John Tyndall, a former leader of the National Front and founder of the BNP.

A member of a Facebook group called "Free Emma West", which has 53 members,  has also offered to make t-shirts featuring her face and the message: "**** off this is my British Country".

Britain First, which describes itself as a "patriotic political movement" staged a protest outside HMP Bronzefield, in Ashford, where West was remanded after her first appearance in court in December.

Croydon Crown Court has previously heard that West, a former dental receptionist, had taken a double dose of her medication at the time of the incident, which is believed to have occurred on October 18 last year.

Her trial is expected to last three days.
