Blue Orchid nightclub in Croydon could host final night
THE legendary Blue Orchid nightclub once attracted the likes of glamour model Jordan and snooker star Jimmy White.
Now ambitious plans are being put together for one final night at the venue in Croydon's Park Lane.
Nearly eight years have passed since the nightclub shut down.
But with the site still vacant, event organiser Lewis Rooney is trying to see if he can open up the building next year in a farewell swansong.

The 32-year-old, of Flash-Backz Promotions, said: "We're trying to let Croydon say goodbye to the Blue Orchid.
"We could fill it easily - we wouldn't need to put flyers out.
"Everybody wants to get back in there for one last knees-up.
"People are asking 'will you be doing VIP areas, can I book 10/20 tickets?'"
Mr Rooney says he has spent two-and-a-half months trying to set the night up, planned for early next year for revellers aged over 21.
He says any profits made - once the outgoings are covered - will be donated to the homeless in Croydon.
Mr Rooney explained: "It's famous all over. A lot of it boils down to the fact it was the big club in Croydon.
"There were different types of music played from club classics to garage nights.
"(Singer) Dane Bowers went there, Kate Moss used to go in there. There were quite a few known faces.
"People from Redhill and Crawley used to come down."
A page on Facebook, which talks about the plans, has already received more than 500 'likes'.
Joanna Burton wrote: "Met my husband there and still going strong. Good times."
Janine Louise Black added: "I loved the Blue Orchid, me and my friend Julie had some great nights in there."
Mr Rooney added: "When the Blue Orchid shut they didn't notify anybody, it just shut down. It's a shame it went.
"Whatever the costs involved in re-opening, we will cover them."
A sign remains outside the old Blue Orchid advertising gym and leisure opportunities

“You will always get homeless people???? By choice or otherwise if this time of year we can help and should all year round, but Charity does begin at home...(not abroad)
Cinatra's wasnt my only choice what about purley orchid/doctor jims/scamps/van-damm bar and so on.. but sadly all the lovely old pubs and clubs have gone...If this goes ahead GOOD LUCK”

“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
The only good thing about this article is the homeless donation comment, which will only be worth the paper it's written on if the club makes more than it spent to put the night on.”

“Ahh Cinatra's was a thousand times better/bigger and more friendly..if people remember it use to be the top rank croydon suite... Yes it did attract fights but any venue that had drink and lots of customers.
Pass there any friday/saturday and the queues were half way down the road..
Why close these places??? I know memorys of Croydon and they are not all bad..”
