MANAGER George Burley is determined to drill home the message - Crystal Palace are no longer desperate for cash.

The club officially exited administration at the end of last week and immediately announced the signings of four new players - including Dutch superstar Edgar Davids on a pay-as-you-play deal.

But despite the completion of the takeover by CPFC 2010, Burley has been left frustrated by the misconception that the Eagles are still short of money.

The manager feels he has missed out on one or two possible signings due to players fearing there are still issues surrounding the club's finances.

But Burley insists the club are now on a stable footing and revealed he had already turned down two sizeable offers for players this season to illustrate the point.

"I think sometimes people and some players feel there's still a financial problem at Palace and there's no money," he said. "But that's not the case.

"We've already turned down two big offers this season, because we want to keep our best players.

"We're looking to invest and get better players into the squad and we're looking forward to the future.

"The fan base is tremendous, I think we're going in the right direction. There's still a long way to go, but there are promising signs."

Asked whether those offers were for Birmingham target Nathnaiel Clyne and highly rated goal keeper Julian Speroni, Burley joked: "We'll I don't think they were for me, but I couldn't comment any further."
