Former Surrey and England batsman Graham Thorpe is expected to be part of the new look backroom team at the Oval. 

Existing coach Alan Butcher will have showdown talks with the hierarchy today (Monday) where there is a strong chance he will be shown the exit door.

The relegated County Championship Division one side have endured a disastrous campaign which saw them fail to register a single league win and finished with two successive innings defeats.

And Butcher, who enjoyed a 15-year playing career with Surrey, is expected to be relieved of his duties during today’s meeting, as are second eleven coach Nadeem Shahid and bowling coach Geoff Arnold, with former talisman Thorpe expected to be part of the new set-up.
