TICKETED: The car blocking part of the road
It is not uncommon to see a car slapped with a parking ticket in Croydon.
But it is perhaps unusual to see a vehicle given a ticket when it is in the road like this.
This photograph was taken by an Advertiser reader in Outram Road, Addiscombe, on Wednesday at about 3pm.
The reader said: "I jumped out of my car hoping to do someone a good deed.
"It looked like his handbrake had failed to keep the car on the drive in front.
"The small slope behind was enough to send it sliding backwards – enough to stick out into the street.
"I thought I would knock on some doors along the road and alert somebody that their car had rolled into the road.
"I couldn't find who the car belonged to and instead I spotted a parking fine on the windscreen.
"I couldn't believe a traffic warden had decided to slap a ticket on the car when it appeared an innocent mistake."

“This car was blocking the road. The traffic warden had to issue a ticket, confirming that it was causing an obstruction in order for the tow truck to be called. She said that a truck can not remove a car unless it had been legally ticketed.
I have to give her credit, she helped me try to push it back onto the drive way, unfortunately it kept rolling forward. Obviously we couldn't apply the hand break as the car was locked.”

“Only someone as thick as a parking warden would do this just to increase the tally.I thought the dumbest ones were in Lambeth but Croydon has caught up.”

“Totally agree. If this vehicle "really" rolled into the road due to a faulty handbrake, then it shouldn't be allowed on the roads anyway! Tow it!”

“The warden did the right thing - the car is clearly causing an obstruction - better still would have been to call up the towtruck and have it removed.
It is only a guess on the photographer's part that the car accidentally rolled into the road - some people park like that on purpose.”
