Chief executive Eede turns his back on Croydon Athletic
MARTIN Eede has walked away from Croydon Athletic following the cricket spot-fixing claims made against the club's owner.
Eede, 63, had agreed to take up the post of chief executive at the Ryman League club last week but changed his mind after a national newspaper claimed Croydon Athletic owner Mazhar Majeed was connected to an alleged global betting scam.

Eede, a former Dulwich Hamlet chairman, was due to start his new role on Tuesday, but has now decided against it.
"I was very happy to come and join the club but in view of the information I now have, I have changed that decision," Eede told the Croydon Advertiser.
"I am very disappointed for the people of Croydon Athletic and I hope that things work out for them."
