This is Croydon

If you were at last night's Christmas lights switch on, you might have seen some very special light designs.

Croydon Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID) teamed up with Blachere Illumination Ltd to create an exciting new competition for the Croydon's Christmas Switch-On, which took place last night.

Croydon primary school children across the borough were asked to come up with an original design for a Christmas light which could have a chance of featuring in this year's Christmas display in the Town Centre. The competition was met with a wonderful response – and hundreds of entries. The winning designs were revealed on stage last night and congratulations go to:

Chloe from Atwood School with her penguin design

Ingrid from St Josephs School with her reindeer design

Carla from St Josephs School with her Christmas tree design

Carolina from St Aidans School with her Santa design
