GARETH Williams took his tally to 11 goals in as many games as Croydon Athletic kept up their pursuit of promotion in the Ryman League Division One South on Saturday.

Williams struck the opener in, appropriately, the 11th minute after Tom Bolarinwa had earlier had a sliced shot tipped over by Hillians' goalkeeper Chris Winterton.

The in-form striker skipped into the penalty box and smashed the ball home. The home side dominated the first half, despite late chances for Burgess Hill falling to John Lansdale and Steve Harper.

Bolarinwa and Rory Hill both went close in the second half, while Chris Piper shot wide of Winterton's goal 10 minutes from time having beaten three players.

As Burgess Hill pushed forward, the Rams' defence kept them at bay with debutant Joe Dolan impressive and Ben Lewis outstanding.

In the end, Gary Noel secured the points for Croydon Athletic, slotting home after good work from Leslie Thompson.

Croydon Athletic: Little, Howe, Bourne, Graham (Henry), Dolan, Lewis, Bolarinwa, Piper, Godfrey (Noel), Williams, Hill (Thompson) Unused subs: Depeazer, Sintim.
