Croydon Central MP Gavin Barwell nets new job with Michael Gove
CROYDON Central MP Gavin Barwell has been named the new right-hand man for one of the Government's most senior ministers.
Mr Barwell has been appointed the new Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to Michael Gove, the Secretary of State for Education.
He was previously PPS to Greg Clark, Minister for Cities and Decentralisation.
Mr Barwell said: "It's a privilege to have been asked to support Michael in his work.

Mr Barwell said he plans to use his new position to push local education issues.
He added: "With the shortage of school places, particularly at primary level, a huge issue in Croydon, it's also a great appointment from a constituency perspective.

A PPS is appointed by a minister to act as an unpaid assistant.
It is often seen as a stepping stone towards an MP being given a junior minister or cabinet post.
