Esther said: "I hope we can make Croydon Pubwatch a stronger, more cohesive organisation
"I want to recognise and work to reduce the negatives, such as crime and antisocial behaviour, that we have to deal with every day.
"But I hope we can also build on positive stuff to help Croydon's night time economy, such as supporting big events in the town or reinstating the taxi marshalling scheme."
Esther takes over as chairman from the managers of the Roxbury and Milan Bar.
She added: "Croydon at night is a vibrant, exciting environment with loads going on.
"It's safer than ever before thanks to schemes like Pubwatch – and our fantastic police licensing team."

“I like the Greendragon pub.
It is the lower end places which attract trouble - that awful milan bar, reflex, tiger tiger. These venues attract a lower class of people.”

“Yes Don - why so negative? You obviously feel passionate about many things - just think how you could change the world if you put that negative energy to a positive use.
P.S. I fully support this wonderful lady. She has taken on a very difficult job and she needs the support of everyone.”

“I don't believe she is DonJones13. Violence and anti-social behaviour is sadly too rife everywhere.
My belief is that people like you will never allow the good to surface as you're too busy scaremongering the bad to ever encourage the positive. Uphill battle it may be, but good on her for making the effort and for all the work she has done to date.”

“These people have an uphill battle. Violence and antisocial behaviour is still rife around Croydon, and actually these pubs are partially to blame.
Not long ago a man was murdered outside the ship, yet Esther Sutton is claiming Croydon is safer than ever before? Is she living in a dreamworld?”
