A MUM claims a bungled bikini wax has caused her months of pain and agony.

Jenny Dampreh described how she was left with scars and had to be taken to A&E after what should have been a routine 'Hollywood wax' went horribly wrong.

The mum-of-two says she cannot face sex with her partner after the treatment at the Eva Hair and Beauty Salon in Derby Road, West Croydon, in August.

Mrs Dampreh is seeking compensation from the salon and has instructed solicitors to take up her case.

On December 6, lawyers from Bartletts Solicitors representing Mrs Dampreh wrote to her, saying they had been advised the business had been sold and was under new ownership.

But on Wednesday the Advertiser contacted Shabbir Hussein, who claimed to have owned the salon for three years.

Denying Mrs Dampreh's claims, he said: "I am the owner. Nothing has ever gone wrong in my shop."

When pressed on claims made to solicitors that the shop was under new ownership, he added: "I have been the boss for three years. I have (had) no complaint ever in (my) shop."

Ms Dampreh, from Broad Green, told the Advertiser: "That wax is the worst thing that has ever happened to me. I have two children and this hurt more than childbirth.

"My sex life has stopped. I don't feel comfortable letting anyone touch me anymore and my partner is scared in case he hurts me."

Ms Dampreh went to the salon for the first time on August 13 after it was recommended by a friend.

"My friend had her eyebrows waxed and they looked good, so I booked in for a bikini wax," she explained.

"I had one done before so knew what to expect."

But, a short time into the wax, Ms Dampreh, of Bute Road, says she realised things were not right.

"One woman started but then she called another woman in to help her," she said.

"I started to ask questions but their only response was that I had hard hair and it required two of them. I started to panic.

"I tried to feel what they were doing but they pushed my hand away and said they were switching sides because one part had got too sensitive.

"It was burning, really stinging and I asked to use a mirror.

"I saw what had been done to me, there was blood everywhere.

"I was completely in shock."

Ms Dampreh, 28, went straight to A&E at Croydon University Hospital. She didn't require stitches and was given the all clear after being checked for infections.

She still has bruises and scars in the affected area, five months on from the wax.

Mrs Dampreh added: "It is embarrassing to talk about, but people should know what happened."

“Joking apart - there is a need for these salons, if they are carrying out such treatments, to be regulated - we all complain about red tape hindering business but in these circumstances and with this type of business offering so called beauty services - needs to be registered and beatury therapists properly trained and accredited to carry out treatments such as these.”

“I think the lesson to be learned here is that if you are going to be having such treatments then go to a more up market area to have it done....you may have to pay a little more but it's got to be more pleasant than having a blow lamp shoved inbetween your legs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
