BEING REMEMBERED: Baby William Haite
A charity bowling night is to be held to raise vital funds for a children's hospice.
Organisers want to raise cash for Children's Hospice Association South East (CHASE), which last year supported over 200 family members across Croydon.
The hospice, based in Guildford, helps families whose children have incurable illnesses and are not expected to live past their 19th birthday.
The night will be held in memory of William Haite, who passed away aged eight months in September 2007, after battling leukaemia.
William's aunt and organiser of the bowling night, Jo Danton, from Forestdale, is urging people to dig deep and support the cause.
She said: "William spent his last few days there and the staff were wonderful.
"They took care of our family, feeding them, putting them up, taking care of all the medication and stresses so our family could enjoy William, and just be happy with him.
"We could not have asked for better care.
"The hospice only gets a small handout from the Government, and relies on public generosity.
"The money's really needed, we want to be able to give something back and help more Croydon families."
The event will be held at Tenpin Bowling, in the Valley Park retail park, on October 6, from 6pm.
Organisers are looking for people to take part at a cost of £15 a person or £75 for a group of six.
