Croydon shoppers register as bone marrow donors to help little Imogin
More than 60 shoppers signed up to help desperately ill youngster Imogin Appiah and others like her at a bone marrow registration drive at the weekend.
A total of 61 people joined the bone marrow register and a further 79 signed up as blood donors at the Whitgift Centre on Saturday.
The event was organised by the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust (ACLT), which works on behalf of people like Imogin.
The six-year-old, from Aurelia Road, Croydon, urgently needs a bone marrow transplant in order to beat the leukaemia she is fighting.
Following Saturday's registration drive, Verna Brackett, from ACLT, said: "It was a good turnout, there were a lot of people coming in and out and asking questions.
"It was very positive, but we still need people to step forward because there's a lot of people like Imogin who desperately need more people to come forward."
