STUCK for things to do in Croydon this weekend? Here's some ideas of what you could be doing

  1. How about a walk through the woods with the kids this weekend, or maybe just the dog? All ages and well-behaved pooches are invited to catch the last glimpses of spring on a walk through Selsdon Woods. The bluebell walk, organised by the Friends of Selsdon Woods, will last up to two hours. Don’t forget your camera for a chance to win the group’s photography competition. Meet at the Selsdon Wood car park at 2pm on Saturday. Call 020 8657 0423 for details.

  2. Whether you play opera music or just enjoy listening to it, you’re in for a treat with Surrey Opera’s open rehearsal of music by Croydon’s very own Samuel Coleridge. The company will be playing his song Zara’s Earrings and Symphony in A Minor as part of the Samuel Coleridge Taylor Centenary Festival. Public can come and go as they please to the rehearsal, and string players are welcome to bring their instruments and take part. Open rehearsals at Clyde Hall on Clyde Road 3pm to 6pm followed by tea and informal performance at 7.30pm, £8 for public and players. Call 020 8654 9306 or email jonathanbutcher@blueyonder.co.uk for details.
