Tasha Danvers says Dame Kelly Holmes is her inspiration as she battles back from injury in the hope of making the World Championships.

Croydon Harrier Danvers has suffered similar injury set-backs during her career to the double Olympic Gold medallist from Athens.

when the Olympic Games come to London in 2012 Danvers will be 34 - the same age as when Dame Kelly won 800m and 1,500m gold.

"She's my inspiration," said Danvers, who is battling a hamstring injury ahead of the British Championships on July 10-12, which double as the trials for August's World Championships in Berlin. "And I'm only trying to win one gold medal."

The 400m hurdler won bronze in the Olympics in China last year.

While doing "everything" that is asked of her by her physios in preparation for next week, Danvers was reluctant to say when she returned to the track as she opening the London Youth Games today (Thursday).

However, with the British team selectors note naming the World Championship team until July 28, she will have the chance to prove her fitness at or before the Crystal Palace London Grand Prix on July 24-25.

Danvers, who grew up within walking distance of the track, said: "I'd love to compete at that - it's my local event and there's always a great atmosphere. If I don't compete I shall be watching."
