Steve DeRosa scored the late goal against AFC Thornton that put Mitsubishi back at the top of the league table.

Thornton were more lively in the first half. They had an early effort disallowed for offside, but took the lead as Adam Rea tapped in a poor clearance.

The quick feet of Rea proved too much for the Mitsubishi defence and while the referee ignored the first challenge in the box, he could not ignore the second and Rea calmly slotted home the penalty to give Thornton a 2-0 lead.

Mitsubishi came out in the second half looking like a different side as they exerted more pressure to try to get back in the game.

Thornton were reduced to 10 men after a soft second yellow card.

Mitsubishi were then able to take control. It was not long before they were rewarded when Paul Towler looped a cross towards Kevin Dalrymple to head home and make the score 2-1 to Thornton. Soon after, Dalrymple received a headed pass from Steve DeRosa and took a great strike to level.

Near the end, Mitsubishi substitute Mark Dalrymple crossed a free-kick into the box which DeRosa headed home to win.

Barca beat Golden Lion 3-0 thanks to a brace from K Townsend Grey and another by A Thompson. The win puts Barca ahead of Golden Lion on goal difference.

Division Three

Croydon Independiente easily overcame an understrength South Norwood United 7-3. South Norwood had only nine men in the first half and 10 in the second, so they were unable to compete properly.

A Waspe scored two of the United goals and J Cushing the other while Independiente went top of the table by a point.

Maple Tree beat Carshalton Town 2-0 thanks to goals from R Blake and R Taylor early in the second half.

However, such was the impressive display that all 13 men used were given the star player award. Carshalton were not able to convert the chances they made.

D Wilson claimed the only goal of the game as Oakfield Manor B beat Ravens United 1-0.

Division Five

PHOENIX Athletic beat Surrey Valley Reserves 2-1. C Gedman got the consolation goal for the Valley.

Wickham Wanderers won 3-1 against 10-man Selsdon Wanderers thanks to goals from J Rogers, L Manley and A Manley. Although the Selsdon manager was disappointed he was not able to field a complete side, he was proud of the effort his 10 men displayed.

Southwark Caribb easily overcame Goodfellas C and won 7-1. P Amikero and M Gagnan scored two each and M Bangura, P Brown and G Truong got the others.

There was a surprise win for struggling KS Apolonia, who beat Croydon JFC 3-1. E Cepel, Z Krasniqi and S Smith were their scorers, but the manager was pleased with the team performance as Apalonia are now starting to gel and play as a team which this result showed. K Stubbs got the consolation goal for Croydon.
