A decision on whether tram drivers accept a new pay and conditions offer is expected to be revealed next month.

Strike action which would have brought Croydon’s Tramlink network to a standstill was called off earlier this month.

The decision to draw back from the strike was made by the union ASLEF four days before the first planned dates of action from May 10 - the day it celebrated its tenth birthday.

Under the terms of the proposed new three-year deal with First Tram Operations, drivers will receive a two per cent pay rise this year.

The offer also includes three extra days’ holiday and a gradual reduction of one hour in the working week.

Drivers would also receive a £350 one-off payment to compensate for the fact a deal was supposed to have been reached by November last year.

A decision is due on June 14 and it is expected this will be accepted.

    “LOL @ Paul.

"A £350 one-off payment to compensate for the fact a deal was supposed to have been reached by November last year" ?!

Can't wait for the one-off payment i'll get shortly then as I've not had a payrise of any sorts, let alone 2% in the last 3 years due to the current climate!”

“I hope these negotiations stay on track and do not go off the rails.”
