Drivers warned that foraging badgers are at risk on roads
MOTORISTS are being urged to remain vigilant along a Selsdon road after a spate of badger deaths.
Old Farleigh Road has seen a series of incidents in recent weeks, with three badgers dying on one night alone.
Ray Ings, from the East Surrey Badger Protection Society, says the group is getting regular reports of the nocturnal creatures being hit by cars.
He said: "This number of reports of deaths on the same day in the same stretch of road is unusual.
"I found one body and it had been killed by traffic. It had a characteristic trauma wound to the side of its head.
"They are vulnerable and likely to go back and forth to the same spot of vegetation, which is perhaps why they keep using this same road.
"I'm urging drivers to slow down and take care on this stretch."
