Ex-Fiji star joins South London Storm
NEW South London Storm head coach Phillip Browne is setting his sights high for next season.
Browne, who grew up in the Manly Warringah district of Sydney, Australia, has great pedigree in rugby league having worked for both Fiji and New South Wales Rugby League.
A former Fiji player and coach, Browne arrived in London in March, working with London Skolars initially for six months, and is now targeting glory for his new club.
He said: "It's an honour to be named head coach of the South London Storm. I'm really looking forward to the challenge.
"The club had a great season in 2009 taking out the minor premiership. My goal is to replicate that and win the Grand Final in 2010."
Captain Luke Bonnor claimed the Player of the Year trophy at the South London Storm end of season awards night.
Wes Newton picked up Young Player of the Year while Nick Unanue was named second team Player of the Year and Alex Ingarfield won the award for the academy team.
The Thornton Heath-based club have added Walker Crips Asset Managers Ltd, JP Asbestos, Try Tag Rugby and Fitness First to their pool of sponsors for next season.
