Arsenal are interested in Crystal Palace starlet Nathaniel Clyne, the Advertiser can reveal.

Eagles manager Neil Warnock has already admitted a number of top-flight sides have been monitoring the progress of Eagles academy graduate.

Clyne has already been linked with a move to Wigan Athletic after bursting onto the scene last season with a string of impressive displays in the Eagles rearguard.

And the Advertiser understands that Arsene Wenger has identified the 18-year-old as a possible summer target after having the teenager watched on numerous occasions at the back end of last season.

A bid in the region of £4million for one of the hottest properties outside the Premier League is likely to be enough to persuade Palace to part with the full-back.

“That's the scary part. If SJ is tempted to recoup some money, we could lose one of the brightest results of his large investment in the academy and down go the fans' heads once more, meaning the prospect of even lower crowds next season. If we can hang on to our talented youngsters, I really believe the future is still very bright but if we lose another one it will be seen as another factor in a downward spiral. None of us want to go back to those kjind of dark days!”

“A realistic price is only what people will pay. If we were a stable, financially sound club then we could look at getting a realistic price for the huge talent that is Clyne.

As it is any buyers knows Jordan is shipping oodles each week. That will drive any sale price down.

For SJ, even if it'd be handy fro a quick few mill, surely it's better for him, long term, to say 'Look Mr Prospective Buyer, we have a kid who will be worth £8m in a year, how'd you like to buy my club'.

The question is can Jordan afford to turn down a quick buck? If a deal to sell the club is at least four months off (minimum) then the poor bloke may not have a choice but to sell a tenner for £5 because he needs the cash.

Let's hope not. Moral is pretty low right now amongst many Palace fans. Imagine what the picture would look like if Clyne was sold? S/T sales would be hit.

Who'd own a football club eh?”

“Simon Jordan will do whats best for CPFC as he has aways done and he will continue to do so till eventually he finds a serious buyer which I feel is only a matter of time. Clyne is potentially a future England player. He has, barring injuries, a fifteen year career ahead of him. He is an attacking full back, covers the central defence well and can play both left and right. Is 4 million squid enough, not for me. I think if if we get an offer of around 6 with clauses that would be a start. We do not have to sell to balance the books but an offer will be tempting as then we can go out and get a striker but I would wait to seee what NW does in the market. Lets face it we would all love him to stay but we need to look at the bigger picture. At the end of the day he is a defender and we have an adequate replacement for him. We should take advantage of the situation and start a bidding war. At least Arsenal showed us some respect, unlike those tightass yids that would have only offered 600 grand and by the way Bostock is still yet to start a first team game.”

“Go on Mr Jordan, show us where the ambition at Palace is. £4m should be enought to sell. what happened to wanting to reach the premier league?”
