Farewell Message
Such good news in last week's Advertiser about Jay Hollett, aged 15, who is organising a junior Dragons' Den to help change the negative stereotype of youth which is doing so much harm at the moment. All Power to your Elbow, Jay!
Congratulations to Sophie Matthews who, at only 10 years old, has been lobbying Parliament in order to highlight the need for more help to diabetic children in schools.
And thanks to Freddie and Robert Bolton, who, with the help of their generous father, Fred, are starting up a Scalextric club to provide something interesting and exciting to do for youngsters in Addington.
All this is so valuable. At younger and younger ages children seem to be undertanding that they CAN change the aspects of society they don't like. I'll stop worrying about the elderly. We've had our chance.
Thank you to my few but valued readers.
Eloise

“I just read your posts, all at once, and don't think you should be discouraged by few comments. They made me laugh and imagine all kinds of scenes in the streets where you live, but like so many others I'm not much of a commentator.”

“You say "All that has to be done to reduce the number of empty dwellings is to start charging Council Tax on them..."
...But Council Tax is charged on them, and although it used to be charged at 50%, for some time now the full whack kicks in after six months!”
