Firm wins contract for water work in the UAE
ENGINEERING company Mott MacDonald has won a major contract working in the United Arab Emirates on the development of one of the world's largest pumping stations.
The contract with the Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company will result in the creation of 40 jobs for Mott MacDonald in Abu Dhabi and the safeguarding of 10 jobs in this country.

The overall cost of the project is £232m and the pumping station will be more than 100 metres deep and 40 metres in diameter.
It will have an ultimate peak pumping capacity of 3.3m cubic metres of water a day.

Another key element of the project will be a 41km-long tunnel sewer, which with a network of link sewers, will collect and transport wastewater to the main pumping station.
Peter Hall, Mott MacDonald's project director, said: "The UAE is the third largest consumer of water in the world after Canada and the USA."
The project is due for completion towards the middle of 2015.
