Flasher faces curfew after confrontation with mother
A FLASHER who exposed himself to a woman and her 16-year-old daughter has been given a three-month curfew.
John Joyce, 30, of Long Lane, Addiscombe, admitted flashing at the pair and common assault when he appeared at Croydon Crown Court on Monday.
Prosecutor Claire Harden told the court that the offence in Croydon town centre on August 29 last year.
The mother had just parked her car when a man leaned in and asked for a cigarette. Since she did not smoke, she closed the window on him.
Miss Harden said: "He walked off but returned a few moments later and Joyce came back with him."
She told the court that the mother could see Joyce was exposing himself, adding: "She got out of the car and walked towards him to ask him why he had done this. Her daughter was with her.
"Joyce said to them 'people like you need locking up'. He came up to the woman and hit her twice on the back of the head with the left fist and one with the right fist. She went back to the car and called police."
Judge John Tanzer imposed a community order, along with a 6pm to 7am curfew. He told Joyce: "It may well be that you have failed to understand how upsetting this was."
