ATHLETICS: Striders of Croydon faced strong opposition in the third Rosenheim League match of the season, at Tooting.

Their best performance came from Sandra Francis, who won the women's long jump (3.27m).

Cara Kayum was third in the women's 3,000m (11 minutes 47.6 seconds) and fourth in the 1,500m (5:36.8), while Natalie Osher was fourth in the shot (5.25m) and fifth in the 400m (73.0).

The women were fourth of the six competing clubs.

For the men, Paul Cripps was second in the high jump with a club record of 1.55m and fourth in long jump (4.66m).

But, with a team consisting entirely of veterans, Striders' men had to settle for sixth place.

Simon Ambrosi won the Lloyd Park parkrun on Saturday (19.28) with Damian Macenhill second (19.50).

Serena Stracey was first woman home, 12th overall (21.35). Rob Sharpe won the Roundshaw Downs parkrun (19.08) with Chris Morton third (20.23) and Mick Turner fourth (20.40). Steve Winter won the Richmond parkrun (18.04), while Steve Massey ended up in third.
