A WOMAN has been left with broken legs and crushed ribs after being knocked down by a hit-and-run driver in Norbury.
Sue Lacey, 47, of Northborough Road, also suffered a broken arm and nose in the incident just after midnight on August 7.
Now kindhearted friends are looking to raise money to help her on the long road to recovery.
Collections have been started at the Royal British Legion Norbury Club and the nearby Moon Under the Water pub.
Barry Cordery, 61, chairman of the Legion club, has visited Sue in King's College Hospital.
He said: "Naturally everybody is upset about what has happened. Sue is a smashing woman and everybody likes her. Quite a few people have been up to see her.
"She has been under heavy sedation because of the nature of her injuries. She was pretty drugged up in hospital and I can imagine she will be for some time until the swelling goes down.
"We have started a collection here and every penny we make will go straight to Sue."
It is understood Sue had been at The Norbury with her boyfriend Darren on the Friday evening when she was injured.
She was on her way home when she was struck by a vehicle outside the bar on London Road.
Dawn Douglas, bar manager at the Legion club, said: "She has got a long road to recovery ahead of her.
"Three of us went up to see her and she's pretty low at the moment. The extent of her injuries means she's bed bound and can't move.
"I've known Sue for a while now and she will do anything for anyone. If you ask her for help then she will always be there."
The vehicle was a silver or light coloured Mercedes. Police are appealing for witnesses.
Anybody with information about the incident is asked to contact the police on 020 7230 9874 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“It would be helpful if anyone who ¿genuinely¿ believes that someone is abusing the site could use the "report abuse" system.”

“Sarah, London - you can get the nasty comments removed. Click on "Report Abuse" and if that doesn't work, send a stronge-mail to the Advertiser, asking for the comments to be removed. I am really sorry for what has happened.”
