Fundraising masquerade ball at Selsdon Park Hotel to help Happy House charity
A KIND-HEARTED Kenley woman is throwing a glitzy ball to raise money for children in Africa.
Christina Young is holding the Masquerade Ball in aid of Happy House – a home caring for vulnerable Kenyan children.
The fundraiser said she was touched by the story of one-year-old Down's Syndrome sufferer David, who was abandoned at birth by his family, but is now being supported by the Happy House in Watamu, Kenya.
She said: "I first heard about the charity through a friend who volunteers at the Happy House and after talking to her it got me thinking just how lucky my children had been in being able to take so many things for granted.
"It gives children, from the most terrible circumstances, a really special family home where they are loved, respected, nurtured and nourished."
The home cares for 53 children.
Tickets for the ball on February 25 at Selsdon Park Hotel and Golf Club, with reception drink, three course meal, half a bottle of wine, disco, raffle and auction, are £49 and available from Christina on 07770 945 100.
