The funeral of Croydon girl Imogin Appiah is due to take place this morning (Friday).

Mourners are set to gather to say their final farewell to the brave seven-year-old at Croydon Parish Church, in Church Street, from 11.30am.

The youngster, who captured the hearts of the town, passed away on January 23.

Imogin was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2006.

Despite hundreds of people adding themselves to the bone marrow register a successful match was never found.

Instead, Imogin was given a transplant of blood cells collected from an umbilical cord in July to renew her bone marrow.

But despite the revolutionary treatment, Imogin suffered a relapse in October and doctors advised her family they would not be able to do anything further for her.
