THIS is the first glimpse of how a £50million investment plan could transform Centrale shopping centre.

Last month, the Advertiser exclusively revealed how centre owner Hammerson is investing the money to create a new leisure and restaurant area, complete with a cinema.

It also plans to make improvements to the centre's back entrance, in Tamworth Road, and front entrance point in North End.

Hammerson's vision for the future will be unveiled at an exhibition this weekend.

This will be held in the centre next to Debenhams and TK Maxx, between 12.30pm and 6.30pm today (Friday), and 9.30am to 2.30pm tomorrow.

Representatives from the project team will be on hand to answer questions.

Robin Dobson, director of retail development at Hammerson, said: "Croydon has slipped down the retail rankings in recent years. Our investment and delivery of new retail space will reverse that decline."
