Multi-millionaire David Gold is weighing up a move to buy Crystal Palace.

The local businessman has just sold his £82.5 million stake in Birmingham City to Chinese billionaire Carson Yeung and is actively looking for new opportunities within the footballing world.

Gold, 72, has gone public in his desire to stay in the game and a source close to the Caterham-based entrepreneur confirmed that Palace is a club that appeals to him.

"David sees Crystal Palace as an exciting proposition," said the source. "He wants to stay involved in football and after years of travelling up and down the motorway he wants a club that is local.

"There is nowhere more local to him than Crystal Palace, he lives eight miles away from the ground."

Derry Man of the Match? You & L0uis, Henfield Village must have been on the Voting Panel. When Derry goes `Forward` on his Dazzling runs, i liked his 2 Shots he had yesterday, 1 ended up on selhurst rd & the Other 1 in Sainsburys Deli Department.

“Hey I would love to watch attacking football, with an attacking line-up as I would say everyone who comments on this site would. We don't have the players to do that though. Sorry but Luis is right in what he says. I don't want to see Derry and Ertl playing together but it works for now... I see both sides of the debate. Hey calling me a stooge though!!! Ha ha! I like it! Good banter! My comment earlier was exactly how we played, I don't like it and I agree I want attacking football as you do but its not going to happen till players regain form and fitness. When you see that from players then Warnock will get more adventurous in tactics.”

“Clive, there is no need for insults, you are getting like Lee. Out of three of the last four games that Ertle has played, we have won two and drawn one and by all accounts could have easily won today. Under Warnock, Derry plays as a defensive m/f but there are times that he goes forward, exposing the defensive but when Derry plays alongside Ertle, he knows there is cover behind him. It did not seem a defensive display today by the number of chances we created and Derry was man of the match I believe.”

“Clive your getting as BAD as Cosmas and Lee.sometimes defending IS the MOST IMPORTANT thing in football. As I've said before you CAN over attack but you CAN'T over defend. You DON'T have to attack for 90 minutes but you NEED to defend for 90+ minutes.”

“Drew again so point proved and Ambose scored from a free kick so Palace still only have 4 players who have scored in the league. Most teams in the Championmship and Prem play one defensive midfielder and Peter, Derry going forward, what the hell is he going to do. Peter, L0uis and Chris, wake up and smell the coffee, Palace are at best an average Championship team and Chris, a great defensive unit, you are now in the same box as L0uis and Peter you are truly the 3 stooges”

“Well,Peter,we were RIGHT about Ertl, probably only change I WOULD make is Clyne instead of Butterfield. And Clive, playing 2 defensive midfielders is NOT negative IF youv'e got the PACE to counter attack and with the lack of strikers the BEST way of getting
a result IS to KEEP it TIGHT in the EARLY stages at HOME/AWAY.”

“Like I said Clive, Derry will have a licence to go forward more, it seems that they play well together. Other teams play 2 defensive m/f's sometimes, ie Chelsea and when that happens one goes forward depending on the pattern of play. When Derry does go foward we are left exposed at the back. Teams like Forest like to attack, especially now they have won 5 on the trot before today.”

“Clive, I totally agree in an ideal world you are spot on but we don't have the resources in attack for this. We have to start the game tight then play by ear, hit them with set plays then maybe later introduce other players. What Luis says does stand up. If we go for the attack, ie play Scannell, Moses, Lee and Sears in the same team (or similar) we are in danger of getting seriously whipped defensively. I do agree with what you are saying totally but realistically we have an awesome defensive unit so maybe until fitness levels improve or even finances we should look in the first 45 to stay tight.”

    “Peter
We should be attacking teams at home not sitting with 2 defensive midfield players that's why in the league, only 4 players have scored for Palace which is less than any other team in the Championship. We don't only need a centre forward who is going to score 20 goals a year (and I agree with Lee that Stern John won't as his average is a goal every 4 games) the other players have to chip in too which Derry and Ertl won't do. Every successful team has two forwards he will get over 30 goals a year between them and a midfield players who will score around 10 and Palace don't have that until they do, we wil be just an average Championship team..”
