Golfer more than a bit teed off after joyriders steal £4k buggy
To say golf lover Ronald Coleman is teed off would be an understatement.
The 62-year-old has been left seething after thieves stole his beloved £4,000 golf buggy and took it for a reckless joyride.
Mr Coleman's Spanish-style buggy – complete with velour seats – went missing along with two other expensive sports buggies.
Cops managed to follow the track marks of the vehicles and believe they sped through the Forestdale estate and New Addington on Sunday evening.
They were eventually dumped at Addington Court Golf Club, Featherbed Lane, where they were found by police at the end of the driving range.
But to Mr Coleman's disappointment his buggy, which he bought when living in Spain, was not part of the dumped loot.
Mr Coleman, from Warlingham, who plays golf three times a week, said: "I am not surprised these thieves kept my golf buggy. It is nothing to scoff at."
He added: "I am seething, this doesn't come under my house insurance and I bought it when I lived in Spain, so it is unusual.
"It has Spanish writing on it, is navy, seats two, and is as big as a car."
Thieves stole the three vehicles from Farleigh Court Golf Club, just over the borough boundary in Surrey.
And cops were astounded at the distance the buggies covered in one evening – around four miles – without being picked up.
Mr Coleman is appealing for anyone who sees his unusual golf buggy on the streets of New Addington to get in touch with police.
There have so far been no sightings of the navy Yamaha Hyper golf buggy across Croydon.
Tandridge Neighbourhood Sergeant Dan Gutierrez, who was called to investigate the thefts, said: "This is not the first time buggies have been stolen from golf clubs in Tandridge and we will be advising clubs on ways to improve the security measures they have in place.
"Golf buggies cost thousands of pounds, which make them very appealing to thieves."

“Surely that should be 'OF his buggy' rather than 'OFF his buggy' under photo 1? Come on, decent grammar isn't difficult!!”

“I keep forgetting that education in the U.K. has gone down the pan. If you really cannot understand what I say, then try "Mary had a Little Lamb" or "Little Red Riding Hood".”
