Good neighbour raises fire alarm to save site of local historical beautyPolice make no arrests after drunken brawl
POLICE were called to a drunken brawl in Coulsdon town centre at 4pm on Sunday.
Two men in their 20s claim to have been attacked by a group of teenagers after leaving the Pembroke pub.
The pair, who were walking along Brighton Road, told police they were set upon by a gang of youths.
One of the men sustained severe injuries to his rib cage and the other bruising to his face.
Police were called by a member of the public but officers said many witnesses would not give them information and described the incident as a "drunken dispute".
One of the victims said: "When the police came our attackers were not arrested because they said we shouted racist abuse at them –which was rubbish.
"We didn't fight them because we didn't want to get arrested. Now it hurts when I breathe."
A police spokesman confirmed there were no arrests in the incident.
He added: "We responded to a drunken dispute between a group of men and two other men.
"When we arrived there were several counter allegations and a number of witnesses refused to give information to officers."
