Guilfoyle claims Warnock forced Palace exit

PALACE'S administrator Brendan Guilfoyle insists he did everything he could to persuade Neil Warnock to stay at the club.

Warnock's drawn out departure to Queens Park Rangers was eventually completed on Monday night.
Guilfoyle had vowed to turn down any offers for the former manager just weeks ago, but said in the end he was powerless to prevent Warnock and his backroom staff leaving for Loftus Road.
"I can assure all members of the Red and Blue Army as well as all of the club's stakeholders that I did everything I could to persuade Neil to stay," he said.
"However, further to an approach from QPR, Neil expressed his desire to leave and explained his focus was no longer on securing the club's status in the Championship. At this point, along with my legal advisors, DLA Piper, a compensation package was agreed with QPR."
After approaches to Steve Coppell, Gareth Southgate and Iain Dowie were all turned down, Paul Hart was officially installed as Warnock's replacement on Tuesday afternoon, with Dougie Freedman and John Pemberton joining the coaching staff.
Despite the knock backs Guilfoyle claimed he was happy with the appointment.
"I'm delighted to get them across the line," he said. "People of their calibre are hard to find. We trawled the market and these are the guys who we came up with.
"They're confident, they're up for it. Dougie knows the club inside out. We wanted a team who could hit the ground running. We haven't got much time so that was important.
"They've been given contracts until the end of the season with a brief to keep the club in the Championship."

“I have followed the up and down history of the club since 1943. I left Croydon in 1954, but still love any news about CPFC
Back in those days they seemed to be unlucky, losing games they should have won.
My one comment is, I don't understand penalizing the team ten points because of financial woes.
Can anyone explain it?

“Let¿s not forget the last time Palace were in administration.
The one and only Stevie Coppell stayed to the bitter end.
No running away by Steve an Honorable man and Gentleman.
It was only when the ¿Big time Charlie took over and knew it all, that Steve was forced to leave.
Good luck to Paul Hart.”

“Neil Warnock is laughing his head off.He has secured a three and half year contract, and will probably be sacked in six months. He will then retire to his farm in Cornwall an even richer man.I will say he brought the fitness back along with the committment, however his style of football leaves a lot to be desired. Not a man for the premier league.”

“i`m suprised journeyman moaning warnock didn`t leave when his mate jordan went.
luis 4-6-0 should`ve been made manager when jordan put us into administration.
it was a new beginning for the club & new ideas & luis 4-6-0`s vision were needed.
if luis was given the chance with 19 games to go he could`ve secured 15 wins playing the 4-6-0 formation & got us in the play offs & to the cup final.”

“There¿s an old saying, when the going gets tough, the tough get going. In my humble opinion I believe Warnock should have stayed and seen it through.
If Palace had got relegated all the fans would have understood. But if Neil had saved us, his reputation would have been greatly enhanced.
When another regime takes over, sure Warnock might be on his bike.
But I am sure bigger clubs than QPR would have scrambled for his services.
On the other hand if Palace were relegated his reputation as now would have seen him through.
Lets not forget Neil would still have been paid if he stayed, also the players are gutted to see him go.
Do you not think that Warnock has shown no loyalty to the players and the fans and even Jordan begged him to stay and see this messy business through to the end.
Sorry folks but in my opinion Warnock couldn¿t handle it and sold his soul to the devil for money.”

“Lofty,Liverpool Don't be to judgementle of the man, nowhe has gone.itotally agree with kimba, there are things we do not know about or prevy to so damming warnock now is unkind .He did a very good job under very pressing condisions.AND i was lucky enough to meet ,and talk with him well with my family ,in the players lounge, a very geniune and approuchable man.”

“If Warnock lost the fight to keep Palace up,probably caused by Administration and the loss of his friend Simon Jordan, its the best thing and to get Paul Hart in,on temporary basis, until end of season or take-over and as he said it was vital to get coaches in that know club and area and in John Pemberton and, particularly, Dougie Freedman he has done that. UP THE EAGLES!!!”

“Fingers crossed Hart can make an Impact and keep them up like when he took the caretaker role at Pompey. I don't think he will stay in the long term as his record isn't that great outside of his first seasons at his respective new clubs but we will have to take what we can get and I could imagine worse guys they could have got in. Good move to Bring Doug and Pembo in. Come on you Eagles!”
