A YOUNG Croydon stylist has scooped a prestigious prize.

Jasmine Redstone, who works at Rush Hair, was named newcomer of the year at the glitzy British Hairdressing Awards.

The ceremony – the hairdressing equivalent of the Oscars – was held at Mayfair's Grosvenor Hotel and compered by TV personality Jonathan Ross.

After receiving her award from X Factor finalist Marcus Collins, Jasmine said. "This award is also a great tribute to the fantastic hairdressing talent and creativity within Croydon.

"This has been a fantastic year for the entire team at Rush Hair and I would like to dedicate this award to them, as without their amazing help and support I would not have won."
