Hart questions red card

PALACE manager Paul Hart questioned referee Andy Hall's decision to send off Matt Lawrence as the Eagles relegation worries deepened at the City Ground.

The veteran centre back was given his marching orders after 51 minutes for deliberate handball, but Hart felt his side should have been awarded a free-kick prior to the incident for a shove on Clint Hill.
"With 11 men on the field I always felt we would get something out of the game," he said. "I thought we should have had a free-kick in the incident before Matt Lawrence was sent off so it was a bit hard to swallow.
"We kept battling and that's what we will continue to do because I still feel we can get out of this situation."
The defeat leaves the Eagles third from bottom on 39 points with eight league games remaining.
They are back in action against Cardiff on Saturday afternoon but are facing a defensive crisis. Lawrence and Claude Davis are suspended, while Danny Butterfield, Nathaniel Clyne and Paddy McCarthy are all major doubts through injury.
