SCHOOLCHILDREN from Croydon competed for a series of prizes at the inaugural Addington Court Golf Invitational.

Seventy two pupils from primary and secondary schools visited the popular course for the event, run in association with St Andrew's School Sport Partnership.

Pupils in Year Five and Year Nine had played in qualifying events during May and June to win through to the final tournament.

The schools represented were (Y5): Parish Church, Purley Oaks, Duppas, Oval, Park Hill Junior, St Peter's, Courtwood and Forestdale, and (Y9): Archbishop Tenison's, St Andrew's, Harris Academy, Purley and Selsdon High.

During the afternoon pupils took part in a variety of different fun golfing competitions including 'Bullseye', 'Drive for Show, Putt for Dough' and 'The Grand National', trying out the golf skills they had learnt during the course of the year.

Overall winners in the secondary school section were Archbishop Tenison's CE High School, and Duppas Junior School were the clear winners of the primary section.
