Horror season has a capital theme
THE David Lean Cinema at Fairfield presents a Horror of London Film Season this September featuring pre-show talks and introductions by Professor Clive Bloom, Dr Ian Conrich and actress Sara Stewart.
On Friday September 2 at 7.45pm Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Kate Ashfield star in the horror comedy Shaun of the Dead (15).
Dr Conrich, a Fellow in the Department of Literature, Film and Theatre at the University of Essex, gives a pre-show talk on Zombie Culture at 7pm. A successful author and editor Dr Conrich's work on the horror genre has appeared in many books including The Horror Film Reader (2001), British Horror Cinema (2001), The Horror Film (2004), Horror International (2005), Japanese Horror Cinema (2005) and Seventies British Cinema (2008).
London Voodoo (18), starring Sara Stewart, Doug Cockle and Michael Nyqvist is the first of a Horror Triple Bill screened on Saturday, September 2 at 2.45pm. When a young man relocates his family from New York to London his wife discovers a new power that threatens to tear the family apart.
Dr Conrich returns with a pre-show talk on The London Horror Film at 2pm and is joined by star of London Voodoo, Sara Stewart, who will give an introduction to the film at 2.30pm.
Later at 6pm the tunnels of the London Underground are the setting for next horror instalment, Creep (18) starring, Franka Potente, Sean Harris and Vas Blackwood, and finally the award-winning An American Werewolf in London (18) will be screened at 8pm. Starring David Naughton, Griffin Dunne and Jenny Agutter. Both films will be introduced by Dr Conrich.
