A KENLEY pensioner has been jailed for repeatedly terrorising her neighbours while breaching her restraining order.

Joan Nisbet, 71, of Godstone Road, waged war with neighbours Paul and Lorraine Crowley who fear the custodial sentence will only afford them brief respite.

Judge Robert Hunter jailed the notorious nan for 17 weeks at Croydon Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Nisbet was originally convicted for spraying weed killer in Mrs Crowley's face in September 2011, given a suspended sentence and forbidden from contacting her neighbours or playing loud music between 11pm and 7am.

But the pensioner was arrested on December 4 and 11 last year for further breaches after playing Queen at full blast until the early hours.

Nisbet spent Christmas behind bars and had 32 days deducted from her sentence for time already served in custody.

Her 24-month suspended jail sentence was enacted by Judge Hunter but reduced to 13 weeks while giving her a further four-week sentence to run consecutively for breaking the restraining order.

“Is this the same woman who tormented the bloke who tried to top himself and kept shouting at him to have another go at it afterwards? I think that she needs to be rehoused in New Addington.”

“Facts are that this is an elderly woman being housed by the council and is causing grief to her neighbours as proven in the courts and the issue of an asbo. The council rather than move the offending neighbour chooses to move everyone around her. This costs to us all, as rather than move one person they choose to move several people on several seperate occassions knowing that this woman is likely to see off the new family. Where is the sense in that? Why is an elderly woman taking up a precious council house at tax payers expense, that could be given to a family? Does her family still live with her? If not why has she not been moved to a studio or one bedroom which would be more inkeeping to her needs? This woman would of had to of signed a tenancy agreement which would of had rules with regards to nuisance of any kind which would threaten eviction. So why have the council not followed through with this? No wonder some coucil tenants behave the way they do when there is little fear of them ever carrying out what they threaten. It is this woman that should be evicted and the council needs to wash their hands of her and leave her to sort out and find her next accomodation on her own.”

“How dangerous can this woman be, have you tried calmly speaking to her. Sorry, but I find it hard to believe that one elderly lady can cause all this, 2 sides to every story, Come on, is there a witch hunt going on here I wonder.”

If so, how can you be complaining, would you prefer to be living on the street?”

“Jaya1000 you may feel that these are the unluckiest people in Croydon and because of what you said it seems you sort of know them, as I am aware they have only been moved once due to trouble elsewhere, spare a thought for us neighbours on the other side though that have been putting up with the most horrific abuse from this woman for the past 10 years and whilst any length of time suffering abuse is wrong the Crowley's have only suffered for the past 18 months, since Mrs Crowley no longer wanted to be Ms. Nisbet's friend, the other advantage is the Crowley family have the law and council to help them which we have never had, she has been bound over to keep the peace but we had to push for that, the council has given us absolutely no help even though they knew about Ms. Nisbet and her abusive tendencies before we even moved in 11 years ago as she was abusing the family that lived in our house before us so the council has failed in it's duty of care especially to us as we as a family should never have been housed in these conditions, yes I know I am lucky to have a house but those who would like to say that should live for a week in my house and then pass comment”
