Landslide at Coulsdon South delays trains through East Croydon and Redhill
TRAINS through East Croydon and Redhill are severely disrupted after a landslide near Coulsdon South station.
The landslip brought some trees onto the tracks, which were then hit by two trains.
A spokesman for rail operator Southern said the incident happened at about 9.35am.
"A landslip occured in the Coulsdon South aream bringing with it some trees," he added.
"These trees were struck by two Southern trains, the 8.37am Tonbridge to Victoria and the 8.45am London Bridge to Tonbridge.
"No one was injured and it is not clear to what extent the trains were damaged."
The line between Redhill and Reigate was closed while Network Rail engineers worked to clear the debris.
4pm update
- Southern and Gatwick Express trains between Redhill and Purley are being delayed by up to 20 minutes.
- Passengers may use route 405 between Redhill, Purley and East Croydon, or route 100 between Three Bridges and Redhill.

“The line between Redhill and Reigate isn't closed, it's just that Southern aren't running trains along it. The FGW Gatwick - Reading trains are running normally.”
