Life sentence for New Addington father Mikey Brown's killer
The thug who killed New Addington father Mikey Brown in a trivial nightclub row has been jailed for life.
As Shaun Greenidge, 20, waited in the dock to be sentenced this morning, the court heard an emotional statement from Mikey's girlfriend Marcie Netting, who gave birth to his first child, baby boy Romarni, within weeks of his death.
Miss Netting said: “I would ask anyone carrying a knife - you may use it you may kill someone but do you have any idea how many more lives you will ruin doing it?”
Moments later, Greenidge was handed the life sentence - and told he would not be considered for release for four years.
Judge Brian Barker QC passed a sentence for public protection and ordered Greenidge serve a minimum of four years.
“This is yet another example of the dreadful consequences that flow from carrying a knife in a public place,” the judge said.
In another impact statement, Mikey's mother Claudette Brown said he would be alive today if there had been metal detectors at the club.
Before the sentence was passed, the court heard how Greenidge, 20, snapped when Mikey Brown told his girlfriend Shelley Penfold her dancing was outrageous and she should “control herself”, the Old Bailey heard this morning.
Mikey, 23, grabbed the couple and he and Greenidge ended up rolling around the dancefloor at The Works in Kingston.
Witnesses thought trainee office manager Greenidge was punching labourer Mr Brown but he stabbed him twice.
Bouncers pulled then pair apart and threw them out, not realising Mr Brown had been stabbed through the heart.
Mr Brown, whose family live in Aldrich Crescent, New Addington, died in the early hours after the fight on Saturday, June 21 last year.
Greenidge, of Hilary Avenue, Mitcham, southwest London, admitted manslaughter on the grounds he had pulled out the knife to defend himself “in the heat of the moment”.

“Marcus Forbes Herrington, Epsom Surrey aka Leroy Williams Brown of New Addington. LOL.
Moving on:
I have a theory on these light sentences that these cloud cookoo land judges hand out. Look at it this way, these low life scum are their bread and Butter, if they put all these scumbags away forever how are they going to earn a living, in effect these scumbags are their customers.”

“When I was going to Cinatras all men where searched before entering the place. All I can say is you are taking a hell of a chance entering a night club or whatever without being frisked. My advice to youngsters is not to go at all to these modern day hell holes and expand their enthusiasm in different ways.Dont ask me what, the Lord gave you a brain.”

“4 years and you want to try and discourage people from carrying a knife. it will never happen with ridiclious sentence like that is anything to go by especially when a life has been taken. how can you preach to young people when the sentence does not fit the crime.”

“So he just happenned to have a knife ready to pull out, just in case? 4 years is ridiculous - it makes a mockery of the whole British Judicial system. People surely don't carry knives as "self-defence" - those that carry a knife intend to use that knife as a weapon, whatever way it is dressed up. 44 years is more like it, with no parole; but would that stop others doing the same thing? I'd like to think so, but unfortunately I am not so sure.”

“4 f**ing years, what is the point? what planet do these judges come from when they dish out sentences like that. why dont you do gooders get in touch with the real world out there and hand out sentences they may actually make people think twice about commiting a crime instead of paltry times inside like this where all they do is learn new ways to commit crimes.”
