PALACE'S co-chairman Martin Long has reaffirmed the club's hard line stance on Birmingham target Nathaniel Clyne, writes Daniel Jones.

The Premier League outfit have refused to give up their pursuit of the Eagles teenage full-back, despite manager George Burley's insistence that he is not up for sale.

Alex McCleish has tabled several bids to take Clyne to St Andrews but none have come anywhere near to tempting Palace to sell. And speaking to the Advertiser this week, Long has stressed that the full-back is an important part of Burley's plans.

"Nathaniel is someone we value very highly," he said. "He has just got back from England U19 duty where I believe he did very well.

"I think Steve Parish has said that he won't be sold for as little as £3million and I agree, it will take an awful lot more than that.

"He is a top player, there's no doubt in my mind that he will go on and play for England.

"We want to keep him. If there is a huge bid made then obviously we would have to consider it, but we don't need the money.

"We have done all our cash flows and have budgeted for the season. We've been quite conservative in our estimations and are on a stable financial footing now."

“Middlesborough are interested in Speroni so if he won't agree an extension to his contract then it might be better to let him go now rather than lose him for nothing in a years time.
By the way L0uis, where is your mate Potty these days”

“CPFC 2010 seem to be on the right road at trying to keep the best youngsters who are the future of this club without having to pay large fees, I would just say to Nathanial Clyne look at all the other youngsters who have left this club John Bostock for one he only last week complained that he was not getting enough football and had yet to reach double figure apperances for Spurs. The are quite others the latest being Victor Moses its a shame the committee were not in place when he was sold, Neil Warnock blooded some good youngsters and if he had been able to have kept them what a team we could have had with a few older heads, I know Peter Taylor has not done much in his managerial career but was on the right track with the youngsters at Palace so I would put him in line with John Cartwright (Malacolm Allisons) youth team manager and what a crop of youngsters we had then.”
