But following "several discussions with constituents", including members of the Church and teachers in faith schools, Mr Ottaway has made his position clear.

"Society has come a long way on the subject of sexual equality," the MP said.

"As a member of the Conservative party and of the Church of England I am intensely aware of the reservations that exist. However, we should recognise that the historical success of both of these institutions has been due to their willingness to evolve as society evolves."

Mr Ottaway, who will step down from his post at the next general election added: "Young people, the polls tell us, are overwhelmingly in favour of the proposals and simply don’t understand the opposition of the older generation.

"Perhaps this is because they have not lived before the 1967 Act, so sexual orientation is not a big deal.

"I see no reason, as I approach retirement from politics, to disrespect their view of what is normal today.

"We should not stand in the way of a younger generation that clearly wants this reform."

“There's nothing wrong with being gay. They weren't grown in a lab. They've always existed. I'd rather people be honest than live in the closet, possibly even have kids whilst in the closet, and then come out and kill that marriage & family unit. Better they come out first. We have enough broken homes as it is without creating more by forcing gays back into the closet.

What bugs me about this is that The Torys are happy to allow the CofE to refuse to carry out ceremonies by banning the CofE from doing it. 'Unless the church agrees in it's entirety' from what I have been told.

And that agreement will never happen, as too many of it's members are gay-bashers.

I know rebel Catholics who have no issue with Gay marriage in a church. But they're a minority. And they won't get a majority or 'entirety' either.

So the Tory decision is clearly rigged. It's all a bit Section 28 if you ask me. I doubt this is an accident. It's most likely an attempt to retain the Christian vote by banning gay marriage in Churches on the sly. Give the Christians what they want ( discrimination ), whilst making it look like it's a 'free choice'.

What if 2 gay CofE types want to get hitched in their local church? What happened to their right to religion?”

“He would be better reading the English Democrats article on their website and focusing on what matters to Great Britain most : -

The English Democrats are neither left wing Communists nor right wing Fascists they are here to represent all the people of England.

.. and of course the Labour Party are well known for their anti-Englishness as this extract from The Guardian found via the link below demonstrates, quote""the English are potentially very aggressive" (Jack Straw); "there's no such nationality as English" (John Prescott);"unquote. (This comes from a political Party which associates itself with the Communist Party who are the biggest mass murderers in recent history followed by the Fascists in second place.)

“It wasn't the 1967 Act decriminalising homosexuality that has caused younger people to be in favour of Same Sex Marriages, It was the repeal of section 28 ten years ago that is relevant. Since 2003 schools have been spending billions of pounds promoting homosexuality and brainwashing children.”
