Formed 25 years ago and formerly known as the Croydon and Purley Friendship Centre, the social club is affiliated to the Friendship Centre Federation which has many branches throughout the country.

Each month the centre also organises a nearby countryside walk, a lunch for members (and friends) on a Sunday at a pub or restaurant and a monthly lunch (on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday) also in the area.

In addition, they enjoy excursions during summer months, usually arranged so that members with a freedom pass can use it in order to reach the scene at minimum cost and inconvenience. Recent visits have been to the Greenwich Fan Museum, the Guildhall, the Postal Museum and similar centres in and around London. More such visits are being planned for next year.

Membership costs £10 annually and members pay £1.50 at each meeting attended. Newcomers on first attendance are not charged.
