A MAN involved in a road traffic accident after being pursued by police has died.

Ryan Staple, of Charles Cobb Gardens, was left injured following the incident in Beckenham on Friday January 13 about 11.20pm.

The 20-year-old was taken to King's College Hospital in London where he passed away last Thursday (January 19).

An inquest was opened and adjourned at Croydon Coroner's Court on Tuesday (January 24). Mr Staple died of a traumatic brain injury.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said it was 'investigating the management of a Metropolitan Police Service pursuit that preceded a road traffic incident'.

Update: The IPCC promises to 'thoroughly investigate' Mr Staple's death'
