A MAN who threatened to smash a baby's head open has been warned he could go to jail.
Vicious Ian Sexton, 23, held a heavy weight over the girl's head then threatened to throw her down the stairs after her mother tried to rescue her.
The court heard how the baby was left in Sexton's care at a home in Kenley, on July 26, when the threats against her started.
The child's mother demanded the child back because she was in danger but Sexton refused and dangled her over the stairs.
When the brave mum tried to get the baby back she was pushed and shoved by Sexton – who has a child of his own.
And when Sexton's frantic brother came to the rescue he was attacked with a dumbbell.
The little girl suffered no injuries.
Sexton, admitted cruelty to the baby when he appeared at Croydon Magistrates' Court on August 19.
He also admitted assault causing actual bodily harm on his brother and another of assault by battery on the girl's mother. Sexton was arrested after the attacks, and has been in custody since July 27.
Magistrates told Sexton his crime was grave enough to warrant a serious custodial sentence and committed him to Croydon Crown Court where he will appear on September 24, pending reports.

“come on editor. where are you. is this it. a story. no comment, no input, no insight
who is this scum that would "smash a baby's head open". why should I care. who should I believe. where is the editorial. there is the vaguest simulation of fact, the implication of vigilantism. is that what you want. are you really inciting violence against the man
if you are you should be appluaded
however your weak insipid reportage leaves much to the imagination”
