THE man who died after being hit by a train near Norbury station last Tuesday has been named as Kamaljit Ryatt from Walthamstow.

The 46-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by the 15.33 London Victoria to East Grinstead service near Norbury train station, on Norbury Avenue.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file has been handed to the coroner.

A British Transport Police spokesman said the incident had been reported at 4.06pm.

Officers attended along with paramedics from London Ambulance Service, but Mr Ryatt could not be resuscitated.

Trains were initially suspended, and the line was handed back to Network Rail at 4.50pm.

“Fancy coming to Norbury from Walthamstow to be hit by a train. Wonder what he had against Brighton line commuters?”
